Our award winning ESG team is looking for a Social Impact and Communities Manager, this is an exciting new opportunity for someone to come in and really make their mark.
The Social Impact and Communities Manager will support the ESG Director to lead the delivery of Speedy’s social value pillars ; Including Everyone and Part of the Community across our business and value chain to deliver positive benefits and a sustainable legacy, to position Speedy as an industry leader in social value as we work towards achieving the SDG’s and the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact. This role will be instrumental in developing social value solutions for our customers to differentiate us from our competitors and help us become one of the best companies to work for. The Social Impact and Communities Manager will be responsible for the management of all internal and external social value data which will include internal/external reporting.
Key accountabilities:
Strategy and action planning
- Leading the development and delivery of Speedy’s Social Value strategy in line with Speedy’s business strategy and ESG strategy.
- Providing support to all Speedy teams, our customers and our supply chain in understanding and developing their own social value plans.
- Providing insights into current and future Social Value trends globally, nationally and at industry level and futureproofing the business to mitigate risks and optimise opportunities.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance on all aspects of Social Value performance, including but not limited to, community investment and engagement, charitable partnerships, volunteering Programmes, employment, skills and training, apprenticeships, school engagement, community safety and social inclusion, and facilitate the implementation of strategies across Speedy teams and value chain.
- Creating and owning a programme of training to improve social value literacy across the business.
Work winning, Client Delivery and Collaboration
- Designing and delivering a range of best practice initiatives and collaborating with partnerships to create value for our people, our customers, and our local communities.
- Supporting our bids and tender team on all Social Value related questions and on-going management of contractual commitments, capturing outputs in our Social Value Portal.
- Supporting the ESG Director to develop social value solutions for our customers and supply chain.
- Work closely with our client project teams and Speedy delivery teams to identify key social value deliverables and prepare and administer the plan for achieving this.
- Work collaboratively with other labour providers/project teams to deliver programs.
- Creation of bespoke social value reports for clients as and when required.
- Working with our supply chain teams to embed Social Value in all supplier requirements and monitoring compliance.
- Working in partnership with our value chain to obtain Social Value data and to identify and deliver opportunities to achieve our Social Value performance objectives.
- To represent Speedy across the industry and peer groups
- Developing toolkits to support operational teams for employee volunteering , maximising the volunteering opportunities and driving an increase in the volunteering days completed across Speedy each year
Committees and working groups.
- Chair of the Speedy Charity Committee working across the business and value chain to deliver a range of charitable and community activities, both internally and externally.
- Key contact for our corporate charity partners
Disclosures
- Responsible for managing all social value, related disclosures and providing this information to the ESG Manager.
- Responsible for identifying gaps and improving these in all ESG disclosures.
Policies, data, and Reporting
- Prepare, monitor, and deliver yearly social value targets.
- Update, review and communicate social value policies and procedures ensuring we are striving for continuous improvement and results.
- Communicate social value programs, successes and performances through various formats including case studies, annual reports & social media.
- To be responsible for writing the Social Value areas within the Annual Report and ensure that this is accurate and reflective of the activities completed and scheduled for the coming FY.
- Creating and monitoring policies, specifications, procedures, work instructions and good practice guides that drive positive social impact.
- Deliver the sustainability strategy – Decade to Deliver.
You will need:
- Good knowledge of the social value act, equality act and PPN 06/20 and the Social Value Model
- Previous experience in Social Value roles, preferably within similar industries such as construction, plant/hire, building services, support services and/or supply chain.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering improved social value performance at a project, programme, or organisational level
- Comprehensive knowledge of social value related legislation, standards, and best practice.
- Strong emotional intelligence
- Passionate about making a difference and having a role with purpose.
- A curious mindset to leaning and development and contributing to the ESG teams’ growth.
