Based at our Glasgow depot, the Driver Category C + Hiab + ADR role is a busy and high-impact position. You will be responsible for delivering a variety of hire equipment and ADR-classified materials to customers across the region. As a key face of the business, you will represent Speedy’s values, professionalism and commitment to exceptional customer service on every delivery.


About the Role – What You Will Be Doing

This is a varied and responsible driving role requiring safe operation of a Category C vehicle, Hiab crane, and ADR competence. Your daily activities will include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering and collecting hire equipment, including ADR-classified items, safely and in full compliance with legislation.

  • Operating a Hiab (lorry loader) to lift, load and unload heavy or bulky equipment for customers, following all training and safety protocols.

  • Conducting daily vehicle and crane checks, ensuring the vehicle is always legally compliant, well maintained and roadworthy.

  • Carrying out ADR duties responsibly, ensuring hazardous materials are transported, secured and documented appropriately.

  • Accurately completing all delivery, collection and ADR documentation, including digital PODs, consignment notes and safety checklists.

  • Providing an outstanding customer experience, offering support, answering basic product queries and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Adhering to all health and safety requirements, including PPE, site procedures, transport legislation and safe loading practices.

  • Maintaining excellent communication with depot teams to support routing, respond to urgent delivery needs and manage time effectively.

  • Supporting depot operations when required (equipment checks, basic yard duties, or stock movements).

  • Championing Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver, through safe, sustainable and responsible driving behaviours.


Driver Expectations at Speedy

  • Demonstrate courteous, safe and professional driving at all times.

  • Follow tachograph rules, road regulations and company transport policies.

  • Ensure all equipment, including ADR goods, is transported securely and safely.

  • Maintain strong working knowledge of local and wider regional roads.

  • Communicate proactively if delays, issues or safety concerns arise.

  • Keep the vehicle clean, compliant and well presented.

  • Represent Speedy positively to customers, suppliers and the general public.


What You Need

  • Full UK Category C (Class 2) licence

  • Valid Hiab (Lorry Loader) certification

  • ADR licence (minimum: packages – tanks desirable but not essential)

  • No more than 6 penalty points

  • UK commercial driving experience

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to complete manual handling tasks

  • Good knowledge of the local geographical area

  • Commitment to supporting Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver
