Based at our Warrington depot, the Driver Category C role is essential to our operation. You will be responsible for safely delivering and collecting a variety of hire equipment to and from customer sites. As a front-line representative, you will demonstrate professionalism, excellent customer service, and strong product awareness.
Key Responsibilities (More Detailed)
Deliver and collect hire equipment to and from customer locations, construction sites and other Speedy depots, ensuring all items are transported safely and securely.
Conduct daily vehicle checks in line with company and legal standards, reporting any defects immediately and ensuring the vehicle remains clean, roadworthy and compliant.
Load and unload equipment safely, using correct manual handling techniques and securing loads properly to prevent damage.
Complete delivery documentation, including electronic PODs, hire agreements and return notes with accuracy and attention to detail.
Provide excellent customer service during every interaction, offering support and advice where necessary and representing Speedy’s brand values.
Demonstrate and explain basic equipment operation when required (training provided), ensuring customers understand safety guidelines.
Work closely with depot teams, including coordinators, engineers and managers, to plan efficient routes and respond to urgent delivery requests.
Follow all health and safety requirements, including PPE use, safe driving practices, speed limits, equipment handling and site rules.
Report any accidents, near misses or customer issues in line with company procedures.
Assist with general depot duties during quieter periods, such as equipment checks, yard organisation, or supporting colleagues.
Promote a positive safety culture, supporting Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver.
What You Need
Full UK Category C (Class 2) driving licence
No more than 6 penalty points
Good geographical knowledge of the local and surrounding areas
Experience driving commercially in the UK
Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
Ability to carry out manual handling tasks
Basic mechanical awareness is beneficial (but not essential)
Good communication skills and a professional, courteous manner
Commitment to working safely and responsibly
Reliability, punctuality and a proactive attitude
