About the Role
Based within our busy depot, the Hire Desk Controller plays a vital role at the heart of our operations. Acting as the key link between our customers and internal teams, you will manage the full hire process from initial enquiry through to delivery and collection.
This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role where relationship building, organisation, and communication are essential. You will work closely with multiple departments to ensure customer needs are met efficiently and to the highest standard.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Taking inbound customer enquiries via phone and email and processing hire orders accurately
- Managing the full hire lifecycle, from quotation and order placement through to delivery, off-hire, and collection
- Coordinating with depot teams including stock controllers, drivers, and engineers to ensure equipment availability and timely delivery
- Monitoring order progress and proactively resolving any issues or delays
- Providing customers with updates, handling queries, and ensuring a high level of service at all times
- Scheduling deliveries and collections, ensuring efficient use of transport resources
- Checking equipment availability and suggesting suitable alternatives where required
- Updating internal systems with accurate order and customer information
- Building strong working relationships with both internal teams and external customers
- Supporting depot operations by ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently
- Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and contribute to team performance
What We’re Looking For
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A flexible and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment
- A willingness to learn and develop within the role
- A full UK driving licence
- Previous experience within the hire industry or a similar sales or operational role is desirable
