Location: Haydock
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (09:00–15:00)

We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Hire Desk Controller to join our Haydock depot. As a key member of the operational team, you will play a vital front-line role in sales and customer service, coordinating the full hire process and ensuring a seamless experience for our customers.


About the Role

Working from the depot, you will manage the end-to-end hire process — from initial enquiry through to delivery, collection and completion. Success in this role relies on building strong relationships with customers and collaborating closely with internal teams to meet requirements efficiently and to a high standard.

You will work in a fast-paced, desk-based environment, coordinating with stock teams, drivers, engineers and depot colleagues to ensure equipment availability and minimise delays. The role also involves managing bookings, tracking orders and maintaining accurate system records.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the full hire process from enquiry through to completion

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, delivering excellent service

  • Process orders accurately using internal systems

  • Liaise with stock teams to ensure equipment availability

  • Coordinate deliveries, collections and exchanges with drivers and engineers

  • Monitor hire schedules proactively and resolve issues quickly

  • Communicate clearly and professionally via phone and email

  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions

  • Support depot operations through effective planning and coordination

  • Contribute to delivering Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver


What You’ll Need

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities

  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Previous hire industry or similar operational/sales experience (desirable)
