Mobile Engineer – Speedy Hire

Location: Cumbria, CA2 7AF
Working Hours: 07:00 – 17:00 (42 hours per week)

About the Role
As a Mobile Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting our customers by working directly at their sites across the region. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment service schedules, ensuring compliance and accuracy of records, and delivering responsive breakdown support when required. Your work will help minimise disruption for customers and ensure their operations continue to run safely and efficiently.

This role requires a proactive, customer-focused approach, strong technical expertise, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend customer sites to service, maintain and repair hire equipment

  • Ensure all planned maintenance and inspection schedules are completed and accurately recorded

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and resolve issues efficiently

  • Communicate clearly with customers to provide updates and technical advice

  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance at all times

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support operational delivery

  • Contribute to the delivery of Speedy’s ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver

What We’re Looking For

  • A full UK driving licence

  • Previous mechanical engineering experience (essential), ideally gained within the hire industry or a similar engineering environment

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to work independently under pressure as well as collaboratively within a team

  • A positive, flexible approach with a commitment to excellent customer service
