About the role
We’re looking for a passionate and engaging Development Specialist – People to join our People team and play a key role in developing our colleagues and supporting business performance through impactful learning and development solutions.
You’ll design and deliver engaging learning experiences across virtual, in-person and blended formats, supporting colleagues throughout their journey with Speedy — from induction and onboarding through to ongoing development, talent and succession programmes.
Working closely with People Business Partners and stakeholders across Speedy Hire, you’ll identify learning and development needs, provide expert guidance and create practical solutions that help our colleagues and business thrive.

What you’ll be doing
- Design and deliver engaging learning and development solutions across virtual, in-person and blended environments.
- Work with People Business Partners and stakeholders to identify learning and development needs and translate these into effective solutions.
- Support colleague induction and onboarding, ensuring new colleagues have the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed.
- Support talent and succession programmes, helping identify and develop future talent across Speedy.
- Develop engaging training materials, resources and learning content.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on learning and development approaches and solutions.
- Facilitate engaging learning sessions for colleagues across a range of roles and levels.
- Coordinate learning and development programmes, ensuring they are delivered effectively and provide a positive colleague experience.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning interventions, using feedback and insight to continually improve our approach.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and act as a trusted learning and development partner.
- Bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to learning and development.
- Champion best practice and new ways of working to ensure our learning offer remains engaging, relevant and impactful.
- Contribute to creating a culture of continuous learning and development across Speedy Hire.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about people development and learning, with the creativity and confidence to engage colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience working in a Learning & Development, training, people development or organisational development role.
- Experience designing and delivering learning across virtual and face-to-face environments.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of audiences.
- Experience developing engaging training materials and learning content.
- A good understanding of learning and development principles and how they can support business performance.
- Experience supporting or contributing to induction, talent or succession programmes would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with People teams and stakeholders across the business.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and programmes.
- A proactive and creative approach, with a willingness to challenge existing ways of working and introduce fresh ideas.
- A genuine passion for helping colleagues learn, develop and reach their potential.
