Hire Desk Controller

Location: Cambridge
Working hours: 07:30 – 17:00 (42 hours per week)

Based in the depot, our Hire Desk Controller plays a key role at the heart of our operations. You’ll be right on the front line of sales and customer service, building strong relationships and making a real difference to our customers’ experience. From taking enquiries to arranging delivery and collection, you’ll coordinate the entire hire process, working closely with teams across the depot to ensure everything runs smoothly.

What you’ll be doing day to day:
You’ll be mainly desk-based, collaborating with colleagues across departments. You’ll regularly liaise with stock teams, drivers, and engineers to make sure customers get the equipment they need, when they need it — with minimal delays and maximum satisfaction.

What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who’s organised, proactive, and enjoys working with people. To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Adaptability and a flexible approach
  • A genuine willingness to learn and develop
  • A full driving licence
  • Previous experience in the hire industry or a similar sales/operations role (desirable)
  • A team-focused mindset, supporting our ESG Strategy – Decade to Deliver
